Review I have read Maggie O'Farrell before so I knew to expect a story that would keep me hooked. And I was not disappointed. Within a few pages, you feel like part of the Riordan family. You feel for each of the characters and can identify with each of their struggles. It also has a great sense of a 'who dunnit' mystery. As well as wanting to know more about the characters within the pages you are always wondering why Robert left, what happened to him and also more disturbingly, whether anyone you know could so the same thing. This book raises the question, do you ever really know the people you love? This book is simply a pleasure to read and instead of letting you escape from reality it re introduces you to it. It seems to say, this is life and sometimes it's hard but look it's beautiful as well. And in a way that's better then escapism because you come away from this book feeling good about your life. You feel ready to appreciate the other members of your family. It might not last for long but take advantage of the feeling while it lasts! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel a whole range of emotions within a few hundred pages. 5/5!
